Quite by chance, I obtained a set of castings from a fellow, castings to make .. neither one of us knew what. The documentation was long gone. He thought they were for an "indexable vise", but wasn't quite sure. He was sure of the time period - late 40s to early 50s. For some time, the castings sat on the living room table as I tried to puzzle out just how they might all go together. I eventually gave up and moved the mass of cast iron to a spot deep in the back of the machine shop. There they sat until one day, completely out of the blue, the original owner called to say he had found the documentation! (How he came to still have my phone number remains a mystery) I rushed right over and was delighted to find that the documentation included complete construction information, detailed drawings, an original sales brochure and a "Sale" flyer from a supplier of the day. This documentation was so interesting that I decided to take the time to get it on the web. I've OCR'd most of the text, as the original print is just too small to be readable. Also, beware, some of the images are quite large. To get any useful image, I had to scan them as 600 DPI. So, click here for a chunk of HSM history. So, click HERE for a chunk of HSM history.
