Here's the saddle, completely disassembled. I found that the saddle had been lubricated with a variety of different kinds of grease as well as oil. Grease is what's called for, but it's a bad idea to mix different kinds of grease (kinds of soap, actually) and so I took everything apart and gave them a bath in the parts washer. Here's the nice clean saddle. There's not that many parts in the saddle, but it's certainly well made and well thought out. What's not clear to me is how the half-nuts should be adjusted, but the adjustment screws can be gotten to once assembled, so I'll try to figure it out after installation. Since these items were removed to make the Maximat easier to transport and move into place, I decided to paint them while I was at it.
