1 Here's the saddle, completely disassembled. I found that the saddle had been lubricated with a variety of different kinds of grease as well as oil. Grease is what's called for, but it's a bad idea to mix different kinds of grease (kinds of soap, actually) and so I took everything apart and gave them a bath in the parts washer.
2 Here's the nice clean saddle.
3 There's not that many parts in the saddle, but it's certainly well made and well thought out. What's not clear to me is how the half-nuts should be adjusted, but the adjustment screws can be gotten to once assembled, so I'll try to figure it out after installation.
4 Since these items were removed to make the Maximat easier to transport and move into place, I decided to paint them while I was at it.
